AMF’s family lovingly makes fun of me for my love of all things pumpkin spice. I probably encourage their jokes by constantly texting photos of my pumpkin spice purchases. My favorite fall drink is hands down a pumpkin spice latte (PSL). I love the version at my local coffee shop, but since I travel often I am also a frequent visitor of Starbucks.
I was jokingly trying to bully our cousin into ordering a PSL from Starbucks when he was at the airport and he made a comment that got me thinking: “I don’t want a 400 calorie cup of coffee.” He was right, if you walk into Starbucks and order a Venti PSL, you are leaving with a 420 calorie cup of coffee. There is a better way – order a “Skinny PSL.” This is not a Starbucks menu item, so you have to get a bit creative with your ordering:
1.) Start by ordering a Iced Venti Skinny Caramel Macchiato. (+160 calories)
2.) Ask the barista to sub out two pumps of the sugar free vanilla syrup with two pumps of pumpkin spice syrup. (+66 calories)
3.) Enjoy our delicious lower calorie fall beverage. (Total calories: 226. Carbs: 35 Protein: 13 Fat: 3) Bonus points: send your cousins photos of your PSL with hilarious hashtags like #PumpkinSpiceYogaPants #BasicFall #IfBasicisWrongIDontWannaBeRight
