If you read my weekly journals, you may have noticed that I have a Spark drink every morning.
Spark is a product that is owned marketed by a company called Advocare. Advocare is a direct sales company. Those of you that know me personally know that I HATE multilevel marketing/direct sales. I consider them pyramid scheme. My general philosophy? If it isn’t sold at Costco or Nordstrom…. do I even need it? (kidding… kind of). Seriously though, I have a hard time believing the whole “this product is so good that stores and big retailers don’t want you to know about it/won’t let us sell it.” I feel strongly that I shop at retailers that stock the best products and that the buyers of stores I shop in take pride in selecting the best possible products no matter how small or up and coming the manufacturer is. The truth is… companies like Advocare and other MLM’s do not want their products in regular retail stores, the MLM scheme is a intentional marketing method.
The MLM makes money off of “sellers” who believe they have an amazing opportunity to sell a limited quantity product as their own business. Unfortunately, the “sellers” are actually the customer of the MLM. Most MLM sellers do not make any money and end up going on out of business after investing thousands of dollars in these products. You can read more about MLMs here.
Here’s the thing though…. Spark is a great product. I’ve never felt better since I began starting my mornings with it. It gives me a boost of energy and I feel great – focused and clear minded, like I am ready to conquer my day. I swear I feel less hungry and that I am less likely to snack when I have my morning spark – maybe its because I am so focused? I really like the watermelon flavor.
I refuse to sell it because I am not comfortable peddling products to my friends and family, especially expensive ones. I have a job I love – I don’t need to sell products for extra income. I will continue to buy it because it’s a great product. For any of my readers out there making money from their own MLM business… good for you! I’m not hating on you, I might even buy the product you sell from you…. I just won’t be signing up as a seller myself anytime soon.
If you want to buy Spark, I suggest posting on facebook or other social media that you are looking for someone who sells Advocare products. I am betting that you are friends with someone who either sells it or knows someone who sells it. You can also buy it on Amazon, if you’d prefer to deal with the internet over a real person. A canister of spark is $51.95 + shipping for 42 servings at full price from Advocare. If you work with a person they may be able to offer you a discount or set you up with free shipping if they place large orders. Some people who sell Advocare products may try to push their other products on you. I haven’t tried every item offered by Advocare, but I have not been impressed with anything other Spark to date.
