AMF and I selected Moochi’s Giraffe Nursery theme together. The giraffe sheets were one of the first things I picked out when I found out I was pregnant.
We wanted Moochi’s room to have a subtle giraffe theme because my husband and I are both tall. I knew when he got older he would probably pick a favorite cartoon or character for his bedroom and that this might be my only chance to decorate his room. My goal was for the space to feel like a nursery, but not be overwhelmed with kid’s cartoons. In my opinion, the adult-ish artwork and dark accents balance the bedding and toys well.
My parents purchased our crib as a gift when we found out we were pregnant with Moochi. We have the Larkin Crib from Pottery Barn Kids. I love the lines on it and think it still looks great after 15 months of use. We opted for the convertible version because I liked how the taller side looks, but I am not sure whether we will end up converting it into a bed for Moochi.
When I saw these kind of bookshelves all over Pinterest while I was pregnant with Moochi, I knew I had to have a set in Moochi’s giraffe nursery. Mine are actually spice racks from Ikea. I love how I can see all the covers of his books. He is already starting to point at the book he wants me to read him before bed.
The dining room chair set I was given by my grandma originally came with 5 chairs. This chair was sort of the odd man out since it has arms and the others do not. I chose to paint it white to match the dresser and recover it using one of Moochi’s crib sheets. My mom visits frequently and we found that she was always looking for a place to sit while I was rocking Moochi to sleep. The extra chair also added balance to that side of the room.
Fun fact: this is the rocking chair that I was rocked to sleep in as a baby. My mom recovered it in Sunbrella fabric so that it will last through a few kids, if needed.
Moochi’s dresser is another hand-me-down piece that we painted. We had a contractor spray the kitchen cabinets in one of our rental properties and he kindly did Moochi’s dresser too! I think the white is fresh and the original wood had some wear in it. The dresser was originally AMF’s Grandparents and it is SOLID! They do not make furniture like this anymore!
