Candy Corn Protein Shake
I have to admit: I love candy corn. This fall I bought a bag of candy corn and had to throw most of it away because I couldn’t control myself. When there is something sweet that I am craving, I like to challenge myself to make a protein shake to satisfy the craving. This protein shake took a few tries because candy corn is a tough flavor to pin down. Its almost sickly sweet, a little caramel-ly, a little marshmellow-y and has just a touch of vanilla. Yum. The marshmallows were they key. I had a tough time finding diet-friendly marshmallows, but finally found the perfect low carb marshmallow.
1 scoop of this protein (the cookie flavor disappears into the sweetness of the shake and your left with the creamy flavor. Plain vanilla might work too, but this is what I used)
1 scoop of this protein (marshmallow flavor is a KEY element to candy corn flavor. This protein was the best option I could find.) I also tried these Sugar Free Low Carb Marshmallows DO NOT BUY THESE – my stomach was in knots for days after eating these things.
1 tsp Vanilla extract
1 handful of ice
1 cup skim milk
2 TBSP Jello Sugar Free Butterscotch Pudding (available in most grocery stores or here from Amazon)
Blend all ingredients together in a high speed blender – I use the “smoothie” setting on my Vitamix vitamix. Warning: this shake is sickly sweet, just like candy corn is supposed to be. I will only be drinking one of these this fall. Candy Corn craving satisfied! Try this one as a halloween treat – the nutritional value sure beats binging on Halloween candy!
